Tesla discontinues Model S, X, shifts focus to Optimus factory

Tesla has launched a new version of its popular Model Y electric midsize SUV starting at just under $42,000.
The Silicon Valley automaker said in a post on its website that a new all-wheel-drive version of Tesla’s best-selling model, the Model Y, is available for a starting price of $41,990. The all-wheel drive Model Y has an estimated battery range of 494 miles and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, the company said.
Tesla describes the all-wheel-drive Model Y as the “most affordable” version of its popular electric SUV. It also has “more traction” than other trims on the vehicle.
The new Model Y trim comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed plans to end production of the Model S luxury electric sedan and Model X luxury electric SUV in the spring in favor of robot manufacturing plans.

Tesla sells five versions of its Model Y electric SUV. The lowest trim is rear-wheel drive and starts at $39,990. Other trims and MSRP are listed below.
