Patriots and Seahawks players name their dream Super Bowl halftime act
At media night in San Jose, Seattle and New England players revealed who will be in the ultimate halftime show.
The New York Giants have secured an offensive coordinator under coach John Harbaugh, and Matt Nagy has found an opportunity to call plays.
The Giants are hiring Nagy, who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, to fill the same position, ESPN reported Tuesday.
New York was looking for someone to lead the offense after Todd Monken, who held the same title under Harbaugh the past three years with the Baltimore Ravens, took the head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns.
Nagy, 47, was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator for the past three seasons. His contract expires in January, and Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he has reached an understanding with Nagy that the former Chicago Bears coach will pursue opportunities elsewhere as a head coach or play-caller.
Kansas City hired Eric Bieniemy, who served as the team’s offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022, to replace Nagy.
“Matt and I have a great relationship,” Reed said of Nagy. “Even before the season started here, I knew he wanted the opportunity to have his own show. … Everything I said about him, I still feel about him.
“He deserves the head coaching job. If he doesn’t, I’ll give him a chance to go out and do his job. I mean, somebody’s missing a gem here. That’s how I feel. I want to see him step up and flourish.”
Nagy interviewed for head coaching vacancies with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans, but did not receive the top job. He also discussed the offensive coordinator position with the Philadelphia Eagles, but the team hired Sean Mannion for the position.
In New York, Nagy will take over the offensive line as quarterback Jackson Dart looks to make a breakthrough in his second season. The Giants ranked 13th in total offense and 17th in scoring last year despite wide receiver Malik Nabors and running back Cam Skatebo returning from season-ending injuries.
