President Donald Trump announces his Oscar award on “Saturday Night Live.”

The sketch show’s latest cold open on Saturday, January 24, starred James Austin Johnson as Trump and hosted the first episode of a fake awards ceremony reminiscent of the Academy Awards, but with every category presidentially themed.

As President Trump declared, Johnson said, “These little weirdos and psychopaths from ICE are here, and we need more distraction.” “Look, everything is golden and shiny!”

The first award for “My Best Photo” went to a photo of President Trump winning the FIFA Peace Prize, which he called “another fake award that FIFA concocted to give to himself.”

“There are very few people to thank,” Johnson said in his acceptance speech. “Myself, and of course the big guy upstairs. It’s what I call a brain tumor. And, let’s be serious for a second, there’s a lot of really scary things going on in this country and in the world right now. But I promise you, I’m just getting started.”

surprise! Mike Myers reprises his role as Elon Musk on ‘SNL’

The award for best kiss went to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who kissed President Trump, and Mike Myers, who made a surprise return as Elon Musk, won the Lifetime Achievement Award in Comedy, “though he may not have necessarily meant it.”

“It’s really emotionless here. If anyone knows humor, it’s me,” said Myers, who plays The Mask.

The sketch ended with a parody of the remembrance corner, celebrating the things the Trump administration “destroyed” and had to “say goodbye” to this year: the East Wing of the White House, NATO, DEI, checks and balances, civil rights, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Other highlights from the sketch include Sarah Sherman doing her Aunt Gladys impression from “Weapons” for the first time and Trump declaring, “I’m going to take Greenland, I’m going to take Zootopia. We love Zootopia. We love those people. I recognize all the animals on the cognitive test.”

Teyana Taylor made her debut as host of “SNL” on January 24th, amid the buzz of awards for her role as Paphidia Beverly Hills in “One Battle After Another.” She won Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes earlier this month and was just nominated for an Oscar in the same category.

It was the second episode of “SNL” in 2026 after the Christmas hiatus and the 11th episode of Season 51 overall. So far, most of this season’s cold openings have focused on President Trump, with his press conferences and White House speeches satirizing the week’s news.

Last week’s show, the first “SNL” of 2026, began with Johnson’s Trump catching up on all the news the show’s writers missed while on vacation, including the unrest in Minneapolis and the U.S. detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has become the first SNL host of 2026.

Who will host next week’s “SNL”?

“SNL” returns with new programming on January 31st.

Next week, Alexander Skarsgård will be hosting, making his SNL hosting debut, and will be joined by musical guest Cardi B. Skarsgård’s appearance comes ahead of the release of the movie Pillion. He also appears in Charli XCX’s mockumentary “The Moment.”
