Video analysis of Minneapolis shooting reveals when investigators killed Alex Preti

On Saturday, January 24, an American was shot and killed by a Homeland Security officer in Minneapolis, the second fatal shooting by federal agents in Minnesota this month.

Alex Preti, identified by Minneapolis senators, was the third person shot by federal agents in the city in January and the second fatality. Preti’s death on Saturday, January 24, follows the shooting death of Renee Good by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents several weeks earlier, on January 7. A third person was shot on January 14 but survived.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said at a news conference that Preti “approached the U.S. Border Patrol agent with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun,” but did not say whether he was brandishing a gun.

Preti, who authorities confirmed had a gun permit, was seen holding a cellphone and unarmed in videos recorded by witnesses and bystanders.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a press conference that at 9:03 a.m. on January 24, police received a report of a shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of ​​East 26th Street and Nicollet Street. O’Hara said police arrived to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
