ICE protests took place from Minnesota to California
Days after the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good, nationwide protests called on ICE to leave their communities.
As President Donald Trump’s administration enters the second year of its second term, residents across California plan to take to the streets to make their voices heard on January 20 as part of the “Free America Walkout” protests.
This is the Trump administration’s second major protest since the beginning of the year, after Americans protested against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after an ICE officer shot and killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis earlier this month.
This day also marks the first anniversary of President Trump’s second term.
The protest is being organized by Women’s March, 50501, FEMINIST and other advocacy groups, organizers said. Organizers pointed to major turbulent actions under the Trump administration since early 2026, including Goode’s killing, military operations in Venezuela, and the administration’s interest in annexing Greenland.
Organizers describe the strike as a step away from fascism and “toward a free America.” As of January 16, more than 600 strikes are scheduled across the country on January 20, according to organizers.
