MSC World America: The most American cruise ship ever
MSC Cruises’ newest ship, MSC World America, features 19 restaurants, 18 bars and lounges, and more.
An MSC Cruises ship has been flooded due to a water main failure.
Video footage uploaded to YouTube by Brazilian news outlet UOL showed water pooling in the hallways of the MSC Seaview. In one clip, a guest is seen sitting barefoot on a wet stateroom carpet.
The cruise line confirmed that the incident occurred on January 12th. According to Cruise Mapper, the ship is currently on a week-long voyage to South America, departing from Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on January 10th.
MSC told USA TODAY in an emailed statement: “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers as a result of the onboard leak.” “A fault was detected in a water pipe which unfortunately resulted in water ingress into a number of guest cabins and public corridors. The fault was quickly identified and resolved by our technical team and all affected cabins were thoroughly cleaned.”
The company did not say how many cabins were affected, but said the breach posed “no risk to guest safety” and that the cruise line had contacted passengers and provided assistance to them. “Depending on the severity of the guest’s impact, we have offered a range of compensation, including cabin upgrades, full refunds, and up to $150 in onboard credit,” MSC added.
This type of incident is not the only one that has occurred in recent years. In 2023, a water pipe burst on a Carnival Cruise Line ship, flooding part of the ship.
