Two hair growth treatment products were recently recalled due to a lack of child-safe packaging.

Approximately 41,900 units of RootStim Beard Growth Serum and Ruahouine Hair Growth Serum, both of which contain minoxidil, were affected by the recall, according to a notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The packaging for both RootStim Beard Growth Serum and Luauinu Hair Growth Serum are “not child-resistant,” as required by the Toxic Substances Prevention Packaging Act, and “there is a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children,” the notice states.

No incidents or injuries resulting from these recalls have yet been reported, the agency said.

Here’s what you need to know about the recall, including details on the affected products.

How to improve the situation

The agency advises consumers to “immediately secure (both recalled products) and keep them out of sight and reach of children.”

Consumers who purchased RootStim Beard Growth Serum (Minoxidil 5%) should contact RootStim for instructions on how to receive a replacement product. Consumers are asked to discard the original bottle. Consumers can contact RootStim by email (finergraceing@gmail.com), online (rootstim.com), or by phone (202-743-1714) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Like RootStim customers, anyone who purchased a Ruahouine hair growth serum bottle should contact Ruahouine for instructions on how to discard the recalled bottle and receive a refund or replacement for the bottle.

Ruahouine consumers affected by the recall are asked to pour the contents of their bottles into a trash can, take a photo of the discarded bottle, and email it to ruahouine@gmail.com.
