Sherone Moore’s 911 call: Scared that wife is ‘trying to commit suicide’
On Dec. 10, 2025, Kelly Moore is audio recorded asking for help because she was worried that former Michigan State football coach Sherrone Moore was going to harm herself.
Sherone Moore was not fired as Michigan State football coach solely for what the university deemed an “inappropriate relationship” with a female employee, according to a Dec. 10 statement from the university.
In a termination letter issued to Moore by athletic director Ward Manuel on Dec. 10 and obtained by the Free Press under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, Michigan also terminated Moore’s tenure as coach for “misconduct pending investigation.”
The afternoon Moore was fired, he received a one-page letter from athletic director Ward Manuel. The letter informs Moore that he is “terminated immediately for cause,” and alleges that the coach “engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an employee,” a breach of contract for not following the university’s code of conduct regarding “coach-employee relations.” (Moore later admitted to police he had an affair with the staffer, according to court records.)
The letter also alleges that Moore lied as a result of a “hotline call” during the university’s investigation into the relationship.
“You made false statements during interrogation regarding this matter,” the letter said.
This was also considered a breach of the code of conduct and a breach of Moore’s contract.
“Each of these violations supports termination for cause, and your appointment is hereby terminated for cause, effective immediately,” the letter summarizes.
Moore was arrested late on Dec. 10 on suspicion of breaking into a female employee’s home and threatening her, and was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail, according to court records and police documents. On Dec. 12, Moore was charged with felony burglary, stalking, and criminal trespassing.

The former coach was released on $25,000 bail but was required to wear a GPS tether, have no contact with the victim, continue mental health treatment and remain in the state unless approved by the court.
Moore is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on January 22nd.
