U.S. corporate bankruptcies reach highest level since the Great Recession
The number of companies filing for bankruptcy in the United States in the first three months of 2025 is the highest since 2010.

Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture stores across the U.S. are going out of business after parent company American Signature Inc. announced it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last November.
According to a Jan. 9 news release from American Signature Inc., the company received bankruptcy court approval to suspend operations at its remaining 89 stores in the United States.
The company said in a release that inventory for sale, including home furnishings, decorative items, lighting, mattresses and rugs, is being sold at discounts of up to 50% and all sales are final.
The sale follows American Signature’s unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer after it filed for bankruptcy in November 2025. With sales happening all over the country, here’s what you need to know, including where sales will be held.

The sale will take place at all Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture locations nationwide, according to a news release from American Signature Inc. The following list was taken from the store locator on the company’s website.
