Celebrate the New Year 2026 from Sydney to Seoul
New Year’s celebrations were held in cities in the East and the Pacific.
The U.S. stock market will be closed on Thursday, January 1st due to the New Year’s Day holiday.
Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will hold regular trading on the last day of 2025 before the New Year’s Day holiday.
The U.S. bond market will close early on Wednesday, December 31st, with trading for the rest of the year scheduled to end at 2pm ET. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association says it will remain closed on New Year’s Day.
The first trading day of the new year will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026. After New Year’s Day, the next scheduled closing date will be Monday, January 19th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
