Celebrate the New Year 2026 from Sydney to Seoul
New Year’s celebrations were held in cities in the East and the Pacific.
The new year is here and whether you want a cup of coffee to cure your hangover or a burger and fries, you’ll have plenty of options this New Year’s Day.
Consumers looking to grab a bite to eat or start the new year with some retail therapy are in luck. That’s because most national grocery stores and retail chains will be open on New Year’s Day this year, as will many restaurant chains. Banks, post offices, and stock markets are closed on public holidays.
McDonald’s is one of many chain stores opening on January 1, a company spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY. However, the fast-food chain’s hours vary by location, so the company recommends checking with local restaurants for holiday hours.
You can find your nearest McDonald’s using the company’s store locator.
