The US stock market opens on New Year’s Eve.

Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will hold regular trading on the last day of 2025 before the New Year’s Day holiday.

The U.S. bond market will close early on Wednesday, December 31st, with trading for the rest of the year scheduled to end at 2pm ET. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association says it will remain closed on New Year’s Day.

The first trading day of the new year will take place on Friday, January 2, 2026. After New Year’s Day, the next scheduled closing date will be Monday, January 19th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are scheduled to close in 2026.

  • George Washington’s Birthday/President’s Day: Monday, February 16th
  • Good Friday: Friday, April 3rd
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 25th
  • juneteenth: Friday June 19th
  • independence day: Friday, July 3rd
  • labor day: Monday, September 7th
  • Thanksgiving: Thursday, November 26th
  • Christmas Day: Friday, December 25th
