A man who opened fire on officers during a child custody exchange in a Charlotte suburb on Dec. 26 was shot and killed by police, and two others were injured, officials said.

Just before 11 a.m., Mint Hill police first responded to the Edible Arrangements gift shop for an offer to exchange child custody, according to a police statement posted on social media.
During the incident, the man pulled out a firearm, police said.
According to police, a gunfight ensued between the man and the police, in which two officers were shot and the man died. According to an update on Dec. 27, both officers were taken to a local hospital and later released.
The town of Mint Hill is located east of Charlotte and has a population of approximately 28,000.
