Jimmy Kimmel may have finished his last show of 2025, but his criticism of President Donald Trump is not yet on vacation.

The late-night talk show host gave another Christmas message to British television viewers on Britain’s Channel 4, where he said “tyranny is booming” in the United States.

“I guess the president of my country wants to silence me, because I don’t worship him the way he likes. The American government made threats against me and the company I work for, and then all of a sudden it went off the air. But then you know what happened? A Christmas miracle happened,” he said.

During the speech, he said in September that ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live! It was canceled in the United States after receiving criticism for its comments regarding the shooting death of Charlie Kirk. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, appointed by President Trump, pressured the networks to take action against Kimmel, sparking protests and accusations of government censorship.

Kimmel praised the “millions of people who stood up and said, ‘This is unacceptable,'” including the show’s fans and critics who joined in defending free speech.

“So many people spoke out, so we’re back. Our show is back and stronger than ever,” he said. “We won, but the president lost. And now I’m back on the air every night giving the most powerful politician on earth the retribution that is just and deserved.”

White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson told USA TODAY, “To react to Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Christmas Address,’ you have to see it, but like many Americans, I didn’t even know it was happening. Unfortunately, Jimmy once again wasted his time doing something no one wants to see. Merry Christmas!”

Kimmel warns Britain about ‘King Donny VIII’

The Emmy-winning comedian said he delivered this message to warn Britain that government silence doesn’t just happen in Russia, North Korea or Los Angeles, adding: “That’s what we thought.”

“And now King Donny VIII is calling for his execution,” Kimmel quipped, referring to a Nov. 20 Truth Social post in which President Trump accused six Democratic members of Congress of “sedition and deserves the death penalty!” Trump later clarified in a Nov. 21 interview on Fox News’ “The Brian Kilmeade Show” that he was not actually threatening to execute any Democratic congressman.

Kimmel also detailed a series of “No Kings” protests across the country this year denouncing the Trump administration.

“For the record, we have nothing against your king. I mean, I don’t know if you know this, but his son lives here,” he joked, alluding to Prince Harry. “Some of us have a problem with the person we think is our king. Right now, here in the United States, we are figuratively and literally destroying the fabric of our democracy, from the freedom of the press to the independence of science, medicine, and the judiciary to the actual White House itself.”

He continued, “We are righteous disruptors and I know this affects you too. And I just wanted to say, I’m sorry, but what I want you to know, or at least know, is that we’re not all like him. We’re not all like that.”

Kimmel urged Britons to have faith in Americans this holiday season, as the country is “in a bit of a volatile situation right now.”

“We’ll be back. It may not seem like it, but we love you. We love you even the things you don’t like, like Simon Cowell. We’re not smart. We’re Americans. No one knows better than you. We’re always a little late to the game. But will we get over it in the end? Maybe. Give us three years.”
