Controversial Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at Donald Trump on Monday, Dec. 15, over the president’s shocking social media posts regarding the death of slain film director and actor Rob Reiner.

Police said Reiner, 78, was killed the day before, on December 14, at his Los Angeles home along with his wife, Michelle Singer.

“This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political opponents,” Greene, a Republican state lawmaker and longtime Trump ally, said in a separate post about X.

Earlier Monday, the president posted about the killing on social media, saying Reiner’s death was due to “a mind-numbing illness known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

“He was known for driving people crazy with his rabid obsession with President Donald J. Trump,” the 79-year-old president wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump’s post came just hours after the actor’s death was announced.

Although Mr. Reiner has repeatedly criticized Mr. Trump, there has been no indication from police that Mr. Reiner’s death had anything to do with his political beliefs.

What did Marjorie Taylor Greene say about Trump’s liner post?

Greene, who was elected in 2020, was one of many critics of Trump who spoke out after he wrote the controversial post.

“Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically murdered at the hands of their son, who allegedly had drug addiction and other issues, leaving their surviving children in deep grief and grief,” Greene wrote on X above a screenshot of Trump’s post.

“Many families are dealing with a loved one with drug addiction or mental health issues,” Green’s post continued. “It is incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy, especially when it results in murder.”

Greene recently announced her resignation from Congress on Nov. 21, citing changes in the Republican Party and more time with her family as reasons for her departure.
