Oreo maker sues Aldi over counterfeit packaging
Oreo maker and snack giant Mondelez is suing grocery chain Aldi, alleging that its store brand products “blatantly copy” the company’s famous cookies.
Unbranded – Newsworthy
More than a decade after its initial release, the popular Oreo flavor is returning to store shelves.
Mondelez announced on Monday, December 15, the return of cookie dough Oreos, which were first released in 2014. A cookie dough-flavored cream made with chocolate chips is sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies. The cookies will be available for a limited time at retail stores nationwide starting December 22, according to a news release.
The newest Cookie Dough Oreo is similar but slightly different than the one released in 2014. The new cookies feature chocolate chip cookies, while the original sweets featured traditional chocolate Oreos.
The announcement comes just a week after Mondelez teased the launch of Oreo Zero Sugar Cookies, which are expected to hit stores in January. The sugar-free treat has been in development for about four years, according to a Mondelez statement previously provided to USA TODAY.
Cookie Dough Oreos and Oreo Zero Sugar Cookies aren’t the only “new” Oreo products hitting stores. In fact, Mondelēz plans to launch several new cookies this year and next, including large, small, thin, and cake-like varieties. Let’s take a look at what you can expect here.
What new Oreo products will we see in late 2025 and early 2026?
