Waltz talks about son Gus: ‘I’m proud of him’
Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz spoke to CNN about his son Gus’s high-profile moment at the Democratic National Convention.
Tim Walz’s daughter fired back on social media in a now-deleted post over the weekend, claiming that her family was thrown into turmoil after President Donald Trump called her father the “R” word.
More than a year after her father became the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee, the daughter of a Minnesota governor and her brother, who has a nonverbal learning disability, expressed anger in a since-deleted TikTok post, calling President Trump’s rhetoric disgraceful.
“I’m talking about this because my family and I are always going to be the bigger person, but the president calling my dad what he did has sparked a storm of (expletives) regarding offensive words towards me and my family, especially my brother,” the 24-year-old social media star wrote in a Dec. 6 post, also reported by multiple outlets, including the New York Post and The Hill.
According to the outlet, the TikTok post continued, “Some people send me DMs saying absolutely horrible things.” “When I was home last week, someone drove by and yelled that we were the R-word,” she added. “What kind of (expletive) world do we live in? Shame on you, everyone.”
“You can call me whatever you want. When it’s gas, you can call me daddy or mommy, (expletive) no,” the governor’s daughter said in the video. “I dealt with people who called last August and now they’re calling me again? No.”

Trump and the “R-word”
Late last month, President Trump posted a series of anti-immigrant messages on social media that included the same slur.
A Nov. 27 post on the President’s Truth social account reads, “A very happy Thanksgiving to all of you great Americans and patriots who graciously allowed our country to be divided, confused, dissected, murdered, beaten, robbed, and laughed at for being ‘politically correct’ and for being total idiots when it comes to immigration, and to all the other stupid countries around the world.”
In the post, President Trump, 79, referred to Walz, 61, as the “R-word,” which was once used to describe the medically mentally ill but was later used as a bullying slur.
