The nearly year-long legal battle between It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni shows no signs of resolving.
In a Dec. 4 filing obtained by USA TODAY, the “Gossip Girl” actress’ lawyers said Baldoni deserved a “one day in court” after Baldoni’s lead attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, filed a motion last month to have the sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit decided in Baldoni’s favor without a jury trial.
Her team accused Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios CEO Jamie Heath of “throwing the kitchen sink at Lively’s sexual harassment and retaliation claims” after using their close friendship to cover up misdeeds on the set of the 2024 romantic film under “certain immunity.”
“Lively may be a movie star, but on the set of a movie, Heath and Baldoni were her bosses and held complete power as lead actors, producers, directors, co-chairmen, presidents, and CEOs,” the filing states. “They set her schedule and salary, were responsible for managing her daily on-set appearances, were responsible for receiving and addressing personnel concerns, and had the power to influence Lively’s working conditions.”
Lively filed a lawsuit in late 2024, accusing the director of the film “Seraph of the End” of inappropriate sexual conduct on and off set, and of helping orchestrate a smear campaign against her.
2022 Conversation on Circumcision Revealed
The comments come after People magazine reported that the actors had a private interaction at their New York City apartment in December 2022, while Livry was pregnant. According to People, when discussing whether or not to have Lively’s baby circumcised, Baldoni revealed that she did, even though she wasn’t directly asked.
USA TODAY has reached out to Baldoni and Lively’s representatives for comment.
“There were people going around. Mr. (Ryan) Reynolds was in and out of conversations. I think she had two nannies. It felt like she had a housekeeper there. Her assistant was walking around. I think she had two assistants. She and I were sitting on the couch, and there were people around us,” Baldoni told People magazine.
The “Jane the Virgin” actor said he has never shared information about his genitals with other work colleagues, adding: “I don’t talk about my genitals.”
Baldoni says Lively played the victim based on ‘Taylor Swift’s strategy’
According to Page Six, court documents also reveal that Baldoni accused Lively of playing the victim following what he called the “Taylor Swift strategy.”
Baldoni wrote a comment to a group of friends, including The Office star Rainn Wilson and musician Andy Grammer, after a “traumatic” meeting with Lively on January 3, Page Six reported.
“If she doesn’t promote the movie, she might reveal that I’m a bad person or that she felt threatened by me and everything she feels about me. Then she’s the victim. This is Taylor Swift’s strategy,” he wrote. “So she can ask anything she wants because she knows what I know.”
In June, a judge ruled that Baldoni’s case had no legal standing and dismissed the racketeering counterclaim, but Baldoni’s team had the option of filing a second amended complaint. The case will be fully concluded in October, and the trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026.
