Something you purchased has been recalled. What does that mean?
What happens if something you purchase is recalled? Is it voluntary or mandatory? And what does it mean for you?
Check the latest pet food delivery status. 300 dog foods were recalled after being found to be contaminated with plastic debris.
Fromm Family Foods began a voluntary recall of some frozen dog food prepared by Bonihill Farms on Dec. 3 following complaints from dog owners. According to a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notice, there were no reports of injuries or illnesses as of Dec. 3, but pet food companies warned pet owners to be on the lookout for symptoms from plastic ingestion.
Dogs that eat plastic may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue and stomach discomfort, the notice states. If your dog ingests large amounts of plastic, it can cause intestinal obstruction or blockage, which can be life-threatening. If your dog exhibits gastrointestinal upset (such as vomiting or diarrhea) or signs of illness, contact your veterinarian immediately.
“We identified the error and, in addition to our existing safety processes, took corrective action to prevent it from happening again,” Fromm said in a recall notice shared with the FDA.
