After a busy weekend in college football, voters in the U.S. LBM Coaches Poll answered the question of where Texas A&M and Texas land following the outcome of their most important rivalry. We’ll get to that soon after we report the surprising news that a 1-2 showdown is scheduled for the Big Ten championship game.

Ohio State and Indiana have been on a collision course in recent weeks, and the question of the No. 1 overall seed will be decided next week in Indianapolis. For now, the defending national champion Buckeyes unanimously hold the top ranking, with the Hoosiers once again sitting comfortably in second place. Georgia State will face No. 10 Alabama in the final SEC game, looking to avenge its only loss of the season and move up to No. 3. Oregon State and Mississippi State also moved up one spot each to round out the top five.

Texas Tech, which will play No. 11 Brigham Young for the Big 12 title, moved into sixth place, passing the aforementioned Aggies, who dropped four spots to seventh place. However, the win against A&M only moved the Longhorns up two spots to 14th place. Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Alabama remain in the top 10, while No. 12 Vanderbilt and Alabama remain in the top 10. No. 13 Miami (Florida) is also not moving.

The University of Michigan fell just three spots to 18th place with the loss to the Buckeyes, but is out of the College Football Playoff spot. The University of Tennessee remained at No. 24 in the poll, but dropped six spots after a decisive loss to Vanderbilt. No. 22 Arizona joins the rankings for the first time this season, and Navy returns to second place. 25. Pittsburgh and SMU are eliminated.
