President Trump praises Mamdani after meeting at the White House
President Donald Trump said he would feel “very comfortable” in New York after meeting with Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani.
President Donald Trump had nothing but good things to say about New York City Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani after their meeting at the White House on Friday, November 21st.
The meeting between the two leaders came weeks after Mamdani, 34, won the Nov. 4 general election to become New York City’s first Muslim and South Asian mayor after months of insults and warnings during the campaign.
“If things go well, I think he’ll be a great mayor,” Trump said, occasionally patting the mayor-elect’s arm. The president’s kind words towards Mamdani were rewarded with the democratic socialist star saying the talks had been positive.
“It was a productive meeting that focused on New York City, a place of shared admiration and love, and the need to provide affordability for New Yorkers,” Mamdani said.
