Kevin Spacey has revealed his finances are “not in great shape” as he looks to put the assault allegations against him in the “rearview mirror”.

The House of Cards actor, 66, is performing at a nightclub in Cyprus, he has revealed in a new interview with The Telegraph. The news comes as Spacey, once a Hollywood luminary, is struggling to get off the ground in the wake of widespread sexual misconduct allegations.

In early 2017, Spacey was accused by numerous alleged victims of sexual assault and harassment. Several allegations made it to court, but the actor was never convicted by a jury.

According to the newspaper, Spacey said his belongings are stored in storage and that he travels from hotels to Airbnbs to work.

Spacey described his financial situation as “not very good”, saying: “I have very little income and everything is gone.” “I live in hotels, I live in Airbnbs, I go where the work is. I literally don’t have a home. That’s what I’m trying to explain.”

Spacey has been accused by about 15 alleged victims of sexual assault and harassment. The first was actor Anthony Rapp, who told BuzzFeed in an October 2017 interview that Spacey made sexual advances at Spacey’s New York apartment in 1986 when he was 14 years old. Spacey has denied all allegations against him.

After taking time to “reflect,” Spacey is now selling tickets for variety-style shows in Europe.

“Some may speculate that this is some kind of design plan, but my career didn’t happen that way, and the next chapter isn’t going to happen that way,” Spacey told the magazine. “The past seven years have given me many opportunities to think and remember what I am grateful for and the people in my life.”

He told the Telegraph he felt the scandal surrounding the sexual assault allegations was “in the rearview mirror”, but lamented the friendships he had lost with some people in Hollywood.

“Some people may have made decisions that I didn’t think were fair based on what they thought they knew at the time. … The fact that a lot of the people that I had relationships with in Hollywood were an inch thick is just so-so,” he said. “But my friends, colleagues, family, I have never felt alone at all.”

He was eager to see the stories he felt were being spun about him.

“Why was I such a good villain? Why did I fit so well into the story there?” Spacey said. “And some of those questions were important questions to ask to take responsibility for where I went wrong.”

He continued, “I was secretive. … People didn’t know much about me, so it was very easy to put a lot of labels on me that weren’t true.” “Do you think the media was more interested in creating a villain than the truth? Yes. Looking back now, I wish I had spoken up sooner and had my voice heard more.”

Spacey said he is “very grateful” to those who did not doubt him. “I’ve always felt like the public was on my side and that I understood what happened and that I wasn’t taking what they were reading at face value,” Spacey said.

As for his return to Hollywood, Spacey told the Telegraph that he feels opportunities are slowly coming up.

“I’m in touch with some very influential people who want to get me back to work,” he said. “And that will happen at the right time. But I think what the industry is waiting for is permission to be given by someone in some position of tremendous respect and authority.”
