Heinz is leveraging the popular ’90s sitcom for its latest limited edition innovation.
Heinz says the leftover gravy, inspired by “Friends” Ross Geller’s (David Schwimmer) Moist Maker sandwich, “turns a Thanksgiving classic into the perfect condiment for the ultimate leftover sandwich.”
Made with real turkey broth and “delivering a rich, smooth, homemade taste,” Leftover Gravy comes in an easy-squeeze bottle and is “the perfect addition to any feast or leftover meal,” Heinz said, adding that it offers “delicious, nostalgic leftover sandwiches” with slices of bread soaked in rich gravy.
“Heinz gravy has always been a fan favorite at the Thanksgiving table, but we decided to focus on the day after the ceremony because we all know that leftovers are the best ingredient, and without a doubt, a rich, smooth gravy makes it even better,” Jamie Mack, associate director of brand communications at Heinz US, said in a statement. “Heinz celebrates fans who share our insane love for nostalgic sandwiches by offering Heinz Leftover Gravy, the key to a delicious sandwich.”
Introduced in season 5, episode 9, “The One with Ross’s Sandwich,” the Moist Maker is a special recipe that Ross’s sister Monica (Courtney Cox) makes every year using Thanksgiving leftovers. The sandwich’s secret ingredient is “an extra slice of bread soaked in gravy in the middle,” which Ross calls a “moist maker.”
How to get Heinz’s new leftover gravy
Heinz’s newest Leftover Gravy will be available in 12-ounce squeezable bottles exclusively online through Walmart to customers who purchase Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy for $1.88 starting Tuesday, November 18th. The sauces are not sold individually, and only those who purchase a jar of regular Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy online will receive a free limited edition Heinz Leftover Gravy Kit, which includes a leftover gravy squeezable bottle and a recipe card for the “Ultimate Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich,” while supplies last.
“Now that fans can get a jar of gravy for the big feast and the day after, it’s easier than ever to make leftover sandwiches that they’ll want to eat as much as the feast itself,” Heinz said.
