Deion Sanders dodges questions about Cleveland Browns and Shedule Sanders

  • At the soccer clinic, a young girl asked Sanders if she wished Schedeur had played on a different team.
  • Sanders humorously deflected the question, suggesting he was asking it to get his point across.
  • Shedur Sanders made his first NFL appearance after starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion.

Colorado State football coach Deion Sanders said he became emotional and was “in tears” after learning that his son Shedur was making his NFL debut as quarterback for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against Baltimore. But he also fielded tough questions about his son’s situation in Cleveland from a girl who later attended a family football clinic in Boulder.

“Would you like Shedur Sanders to be on another team?” the girl asked.

Mr. Sanders dodged the question.

“She’s trying to give me a virus. I’m going to stay away from that,” Sanders said at the clinic, as recorded on YouTube by Sanders’ eldest son, Dion Jr.

Sanders laughed and called it “good.”

“Who are your parents?” he asked the girl, unable to believe that she “just figured it out on her own.”

“Why are you asking me that?” Sanders asked her while others in the crowd laughed.

“That’s just a question,” the girl answered.

“No, that’s not just a question,” Sanders said, amused.

“I just wanted to hear your opinion,” the girl said.

“Wow, she’s good,” Sanders said.

Why this is a sensitive topic for Deion Sanders

Fans of Shedule Sanders are unhappy with the fact that he was demoted to backup quarterback behind fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel and didn’t receive any playing time in the NFL until Sunday. The Browns are 2-8 this year and could face Shedur and the Las Vegas Raiders again on Sunday if Gabriel remains sidelined with a concussion.

Deion Sanders has previously vowed to step in on Shedour’s behalf to prevent him from playing for a team he doesn’t like. But that approach probably didn’t help Son in the NFL Draft, where he fell to the fifth round despite previously being projected as a first-round pick. There’s not much Sanders can do about his son’s position with the Browns right now after agreeing to a four-year contract with the team before the season.

Deion Sanders told family members at the doctor’s office after Schedeur’s eldest son played in an NFL game that he was “in tears” and “crying.”

“What team do you coach?” a young fan asks Deion Sanders

Not all of the questions he received from young players were as tough as the questions about the Browns.

“Which team do you coach?” one young man asked.

“We called this team the Colorado Buffaloes,” Sanders said.

Another asked which team he would like to coach if he had a choice.

“That would be right here,” Sanders said. “That would be Colorado.”

Colorado State is 3-7 on the season and will play Arizona State at home on Saturday night.
