President Donald Trump has granted a “full and unconditional” pardon to a Kentucky man who pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy on federal firearms charges unrelated to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
According to multiple reports, President Trump secretly granted the pardon on November 14th. As of November 15, the Department of Justice has not announced any pardons on its website.
Dan Wilson was sentenced in 2024 to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution for actions related to the Capitol attack. According to the Justice Department, Wilson began planning the attack in the winter of 2020 and wrote on December 27, 2020, “I am ready to risk my life. It is time for a good man to do evil.”
The Justice Department said Wilson was a member of an anonymous militia group. Politico reported that Wilson was a member of the Gray Ghost Partisan Rangers and other groups.
Trump pardoned more than 1,500 people for crimes related to his first day in office on January 6, 2021, but Wilson also had convictions for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of an unregistered firearm from Kentucky.
