  • Some of the concept cars on display at SEMA are straight out of an enthusiast’s dream.
  • Ford is showcasing a potential package to make its little Maverick pickup more powerful and the Raptor R even flashier.

Some of the world’s most popular automakers put their wild and fascinating concept cars on full display at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) convention in Las Vegas from November 4th to 7th.

Ford Motor Company has debuted two concepts that are legal in 50 states, despite how heavily modified they are. One of the concepts is a more powerful interpretation of the automaker’s smallest pickup truck, the Ford Maverick. The other is an even more monstrous version of the Raptor R off-road truck.

This Ford Maverick concept is the most powerful yet

The Ford Maverick first arrived in late 2021 as a 2022 model. After four Maverick models were introduced, the light pickup truck became a hit, as the Blue Oval’s third-quarter sales results show.

Unlike most trucks on the market, the Maverick is small and has a standard hybrid powertrain. This is the antithesis of Ford trucks like the F-150.

The nameplate is attracting a new demographic, with “nearly 60 percent of buyers” becoming first-time Ford owners, according to company sales figures.

Automakers have experimented with body styles and created several trims that dramatically change the design and characteristics of light trucks. It features street truck trim (Robo), off-road trim (Tremor), and a fully loaded Lariat trim that adds everything but the kitchen sink. While Ford has made a solid attempt to offer a variety of styles, its pickups have historically lacked power.

Introducing the Maverick 300T Street Truck Concept. It features the upgraded turbocharger that Ford uses in the Mustang. The concept truck, aptly named 300T, produces 300 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, which is impressive for its size. This concept truck has 50 more horses and 40 more pound-feet of torque than the current Maverick. In addition to the power increase, the truck also features electric Mustang Mach-E GT SUV wheels and some suspension upgrades.

The Ford F-150 Raptor R concept truck has immense power.

The F-150 Raptor R off-road truck is the most powerful version of the American automaker’s most popular full-size truck, the F-150. This is already a marvel of modern engineering from a power standpoint, so the improved version is even more exciting for gearheads.

Ford’s F-150 Raptor R concept truck on display at SEMA is powered by a 5.2-liter V8 engine and supercharger that produces a massive 900 horsepower. That’s a whopping 180 more than the stock Raptor R.

The F-150 Raptor R Concept also features a high-performance exhaust system and auxiliary lighting.

Ford offers extensive stock customization options for trucks

While you can modify your Ford truck yourself with aftermarket parts, the Blue Oval offers upgrades for power, towing, off-road, and more straight from the factory. From the Maverick to the Ranger to the F-150 and F-150 Lightning, most Ford trucks are offered in rugged off-road trim and final configurations packed with technology and creature comforts.

Ford’s F-150 full-size pickup is practical and versatile. It has a wide range of engine options and is available in eight different trims. The company also offers a variety of cab styles (two-door, four-door) and bed lengths for the F-150..

Would you want to drive anything other than these concept cars if Ford decided to bring them to market?
