The McRib will return to McDonald’s menu in 2025. Click here for details.

Date:

McDonald’s is bringing the McRib sandwich back to the menu in select markets.

McDonald’s says the much-loved sandwich is available at select restaurants in areas in cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle and St. Louis.

The announcement comes after the sandwich began appearing in some markets last week, the McRib Locator website reported.

Back on the menu: McDonald’s holiday pies will return to menus nationwide on Friday, November 14th.

When can I buy the McRib?

Some people can now get the McRib. Restaurants currently offering sandwiches include cities on McDonald’s list, including Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle and St. Louis. McDonald’s recommends checking availability at local restaurants.

What is the McRib?

A McRib is a pork patty shaped like a rack of ribs, served in a bun with barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions. Therefore, the ribs are not involved. The McRib is made with pork, water, salt, glucose, and (this wasn’t on my bingo card) rosemary extract.

The McRib debuted in Kansas City, Kansas in 1981 and became available nationwide the following year. McDonald’s executive chef Rene Arend, who invented Chicken McNuggets in 1979, is credited with inventing the McRib based on the development of reconstituted meat for military use by University of Nebraska professor Roger Mandigo.

McDonald’s has periodically brought the McRib back on the menu since removing the sandwich from its permanent menu in 2005. Re-appearances were held in 2020 and 2022 under the title of “Farewell Tour.” The McRib then returned to menus at select locations in 2023, and nationwide last year.
