  • Velocity will add this Fox Body Restmod to its Signature Series lineup in 2026.

Velocity unveiled its first restomod Ford Fox Body Mustang on Tuesday, November 4th at the SEMA 2025 show in Las Vegas.

A restomod is an old car that has been restored and modified with new OEM or aftermarket parts. Velocity’s design team has worked on several restoration projects over the years. This 1991 Velocity Fox Body Mustang LX is the team’s latest creation. It has been rebuilt inside and out and has several performance upgrades.

SEMA (Specialty Equipment Association Market) is an annual trade show held in Las Vegas that focuses on modified vehicles and aftermarket parts. Thousands of vehicles, manufacturers and spectators attend this event each year. Popular figures from the automotive world, including racing car drivers and big-name automotive YouTubers, will also appear.

What made Fox Body so special?

The Fox Body is the third generation Mustang produced from 1979 to 1993. It has a completely different style compared to the American muscle car look that the previous two generations embodied. The car is very light and has a spacious engine bay, making it very easy to modify and increase power. Superchargers, turbochargers, cold air intakes, ECU tunes, you name it. You’ll find almost every type of aftermarket mod under the hood of Fox Body.

What’s new about the car?

The car is painted jet black and features a 2-inch cowl hood, 18-inch CCW SA50 three-piece billet wheels, and Carter’s custom side splitters. The interior features Recaro Expert M heated seats, Alcantara headliner, Spark Industries Speed Design steering wheel, and other interior add-ons.

The exterior is impressive, but the performance upgrades are what truly sets this classic muscle car apart.

The original Fox body had decent horsepower numbers for the time from its 5.0 engine, but with the right modifications it can do even more. The Velocity uses a Ford Performance Gen 4x Coyote engine and a Whipple 3.0-liter inverted supercharger to deliver a total of 800 horsepower to the rear wheels. The vehicle also has other modifications added, including a 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission, which is used in modern Ford vehicles. It also has a carbon driveshaft, Baer six-piston four-wheel disc brakes, a Ford nine-inch rear axle, and other upgrades.

Velocity CEO Stuart Wilson spoke about the Fox Body Mustang’s importance in automotive history in a news release.

“Foxbody has a special place in automotive culture,” Wilson said. “We decided to reimagine it in the same spirit that made it iconic, while injecting the craftsmanship, comfort and functionality that characterizes Velocity. We’re always looking for the next evolution of our redesigned classics, and this Fox body embodies that.”
