Americans worried about the economy cut back on beer and donuts
Molson Coors, the beer company, and Krispy Kreme, the donut maker, have lowered their sales forecasts for the rest of the year.

Krispy Kreme is “revamping” its daily donut menu to offer “more variety and more ways for fans.”
The popular donut chain has added nine new flavors and offers a daily menu of 10 to 16 full-sized donuts.
“America, when it comes to offering more flavor, more variety and ‘more ways,’ this is how we do it,” the brand said in a news release.
According to Krispy Kreme, the new menu has been developed and tested for over a year and includes trending flavors, fan favorites, and returning flavors that were previously available for a limited time. The chain added that it will “rotate out four new donuts seasonally five times a year,” giving customers “more flavors and choices.”
“We’re so excited to introduce nine new flavors to our lineup so everyone can create 12 flavors that are as unique as they are,” Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s chief brand and product officer, said in a statement. “We’re offering more variety, more flavors, and most importantly more choice, and we can’t wait for consumers to show us how they make their dozen.”
What flavors will Krispy Kreme add to its menu?
Krispy Kreme’s new flavors include:
- New York cheesecake: An unglazed donut dipped in vanilla-flavored icing, topped with graham crunch, and filled with cheesecake-flavored cream.
- Oreo cookies and cream: Unglazed donuts with Oreo cookies and cream filling are dipped in chocolate icing, topped with Oreo cookie pieces, and sprinkled with vanilla-flavored icing.
- Original glazed cake: A classic, old-fashioned cake donut with an original glaze flavor.
- With cinnamon apple: Unglazed donuts filled with apple cinnamon filling and coated with cinnamon-flavored powder.
- Original glazed cream donut: Original glaze donut with cream filling.
Seasonal flavors include:
- Biscoff cookie buttercream: Unglazed donuts filled with Biscoff cookie butter-flavored cream are dipped in Biscoff cookie butter, topped with Biscoff cookie pieces, and topped with vanilla-flavored icing.
- Maple ice: Original glazed donut dipped in maple icing.
- Chocolate fudge brownie donut: An original glazed donut topped with brownie batter-flavored buttercream, brownie crunch topping, and rainbow sprinkles.
- Original Glazed Pumpkin Spice Cake Donut: A classic cake donut flavored with pumpkin spice.
While expanding its menu, Krispy Kreme is also launching three everyday flavors, including:
- original glaze blueberry cake
- With original glazed lemon
- cake batter
However, the company said fans “don’t need to worry” as these donuts may return in the future, and that Krispy Kreme “will continue to delight fans with a number of melt-in-your-mouth donut innovations for a limited time throughout the year.”

Krispy Kreme’s new menu is part of a collaboration with R&B singer and Grammy Award winner Montel Jordan, who the brand “sourned to reimagine his iconic 1995 hit ‘This Is How We Do It’ to celebrate the song’s 30th anniversary.”
“Jordan’s arrangement of the song, ‘This is How We Dozen,’ encourages fans to share on social media how they are enjoying and sharing Krispy Kreme’s newly expanded daily menu, including sweet dance moves,” the company said.
