Steve Sarkisian praises Arch Manning’s growth: ‘He’s got a lot more confidence’
Steve Sarkisian said Arch Manning’s confidence and protection management ability boosted Texas’ offense in the Vanderbilt win.
The top rankings in the US LBM coaches poll did not change much after the weekend’s results. However, there are some important developments in the second half of the top ten.
Teams No. 1 through No. 7 hold their positions this week, with Big Ten leaders Ohio State and Indiana still in the lead. The Buckeyes received 60 of 64 first-place votes over Penn State, while the Hoosiers received first-place votes over Maryland. Texas A&M is off this week, but they hold onto the No. 3 spot with three teams remaining as favorites for the No. 1 spot. Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Mississippi will also maintain their positions.
Brigham Young moved up a few spots to No. 8, and fellow Big 12 representative Texas Tech also returned to the top 10 at No. 9. These two will face off next week. No. 10 Notre Dame has been slowly climbing since an 0-2 start. The Fighting Irish moved up two spots with six straight wins.
Top 25: Respond to US LBM Coach Poll after Week 10
Virginia overcame a long road trip to California and currently leads the ACC in polls at 11th place. Several other league members playing away from home weren’t so lucky. Georgia Tech dropped six spots to 14th after losing its first tournament to North Carolina State, while Miami (Fla.) dropped nine spots to 18th after losing its secondary league game against SMU. The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas moved up six spots to No. 12 and No. 13, respectively, after defeating SEC-ranked opponents.
Southern California rejoins the poll at No. 21, while Iowa moves up to No. 24 on the eve of an important home date with Oregon. Cincinnati remains in 25th place after a rough night against No. 19 Utah.
Houston and Navy are this week’s eliminations.
