ESPN’s “College Gameday” visits Nashville for Vanderbilt vs. Missouri State
Check out the highlights from ESPN’s “College Gameday” on Saturday, October 25th.
Disney suspended content on YouTube TV and pulled channels such as ESPN and ABC from the platform after the two companies failed to reach a new contract agreement.
“Despite our best efforts, we are unable to reach a fair agreement, and starting today, Disney programming will no longer be available on YouTube TV,” YouTube TV said in a statement on social media late on October 30.
YouTube TV said in a statement on its blog on Oct. 23 that Disney proposed “expensive economic terms that would increase prices for YouTube TV customers and reduce customer choice.”
Google, the parent company of YouTube TV, and Disney had until Thursday, October 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET to reach an updated contractual agreement to continue programming on YouTube TV, according to a statement from Google obtained by USA TODAY.
In a statement to USA TODAY, Disney said it “remains committed to working towards a resolution as soon as possible.”
“Google, with a $3 trillion market capitalization, is using its market power to eliminate competition and negotiate successfully with all other distributors to undercut the industry standard terms,” the statement said.
In a memo signed by multiple executives to Disney Entertainment and ESPN employees, the company said, “We’re not asking for anything more from YouTube TV than what we’ve gotten from every other streamer: a fair fee for our channels.”

YouTube TV offers $20 credit if Disney Channel remains discontinued
YouTube TV has announced that it will offer subscribers a $20 credit if the Disney Channel is unavailable for an “extended period.” This period is not specified.
YouTube TV has also faced other contract disputes recently.
This is the third time in two months that YouTube TV has faced a contract dispute with a major network partner.
In August, Google and Fox struggled to reach an updated contract agreement, and earlier this month the same issue arose between Google and NBCUniversal.
Both Fox and NBCU argued that Google had no intention of agreeing to a renewed contract with realistic terms or fees. However, a deal was ultimately reached in each case.
