Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays make history with 18-inning marathon 2025 World Series Game 3tied the record for the longest match in the Fall Classic.
Freddie Freeman’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th inning gave the Dodgers the victory and should have gone down as an instant classic. This matched the record for an 18-inning game in 2018, when the Dodgers defeated the Boston Red Sox on Max Muncy’s home run in the 18th inning of Game 3 here at Dodger Stadium.
Prior to the record-setting incident in 2018, the longest World Series games were 14 innings in 1916, 2005, and 2015.
Let’s take a look at the only game in World Series history to go over 14 innings.
Longest game in World Series history
- 18 innings: 2018 World Series, Game 3
- 18 innings: 2025 World Series, Game 3
