Brandy abruptly walks off stage to speak at Chicago concert

Date:

Brandy spoke out after abruptly walking off stage at the first stop of her first tour with Monica.

The 46-year-old singer apologized to fans in a statement she shared on Instagram, addressing the “abrupt end” of her and Monica’s concert in Chicago on Saturday, October 18.

“After weeks of non-stop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and the feeling of passing out,” she wrote, adding, “Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my health was paramount.”

According to a video shared on social media, Brandy abruptly left a concert in Chicago early on, leaving Monica behind to take the stage solo. The night reportedly ended before the pair performed their 1998 hit song “The Boy Is Mine,” which gave the tour its name.

“Monica came out, gave a monologue, sat down, sang and left,” one fan wrote to X. “No, goodbye, nothing. The screen went off. The lights came on and I was told to leave.”

Video from the show showed Brandi saying “the sound is weird” and appearing to deal with technical issues before making her exit.

In a statement on Instagram, Brandy said she “didn’t feel well, but gave the concert my all,” but added that “some adjustments needed to be made and the show was very technical, so unfortunately it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production.”

She added that she immediately sought medical attention from the arena and “took appropriate precautions moving forward.” Brandy is set to return to the stage tonight “stronger and more grateful than ever” for a show in Indianapolis.

Brandy and Monica announced their first co-headlining tour in June, kicking off in Cincinnati on October 16th. After performing in Indianapolis on October 19th, the pair will next head to Nashville before returning to Chicago for another performance on Saturday, October 25th.

The tour is scheduled to end on December 14th in Jacksonville, Florida.

Brandi previously spoke out in 2022 after experiencing health concerns due to “dehydration and malnutrition.” “Thank you to my dear family, friends, and stars for sending me love and light,” she wrote on social media at the time, adding that she was “following doctor’s orders and taking much-needed rest.”
