A video that resurfaced on September 27 shows Keith Urban performing an alternate version of “You’ll Think of Me” at a show in Omaha.
Country superstars don’t break the baby news in front of thousands of people every night. But at the finale of his Nashville tour, Keith Urban had one of his fans help him film his pregnancy announcement, resulting in one of the most memorable moments of the night.
Two songs into the final stop of the High and Alive World Tour at Bridgestone Arena, Urban noticed a handmade sign near the barricade that read, “Will you please tell my family I’m pregnant?”
He said, “What? I’m just a guitarist. What’s your name?”
“You won’t like it,” she replied. “My name is Nicole Richie.”
Urban announced his divorce from actress Nicole Kidman after 19 years of marriage, collapsing on stage in disbelief as the audience roared. Then he jumped to the floor laughing.
“So, Nicole, do you want to tell your family?” he asked. “By the way, where is your family?”
Ritchie said her sister Rachel is nearby and that she and her husband drove from South Carolina after the Oct. 16 performance in Greenville was cancelled.
Richie held up a gray onesie that read “The smallest Keith Urban fan” as the crowd cheered. Urban signed a small piece of clothing, hugged her and congratulated her before returning to the stage.
Urban decided to go out with a bang at his hometown arena, performing a 34-song, two-hour, 45-minute set.
Although he didn’t address why he was being talked about, such as his divorce or the change in his lyrics at a recent show that fueled online speculation, he made it clear from the beginning that none of that mattered in the audience.
“I promise no one tonight will think about their life outside of Bridgestone Arena,” he said at the beginning of the show. “That’s my goal. That’s my mission. It’s that simple.”
