Your next DoorDash order could be delivered by a robot.

At least, that’s the mission behind Waymo and DoorDash’s new partnership.

On Thursday, Oct. 16, the companies announced plans to begin a test phase of their automated delivery service in the Phoenix metropolitan area and expand more broadly later this year.

The companies also introduced a limited-time $10 Waymo promotion for DashPass members in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix. For the remainder of 2025, DashPass members in these cities will receive $10 off their Waymo rides once a month, according to a news release from the companies. Members will receive a new promo code at the beginning of each month until December 31st.

Where and how to use the DoorDash and Waymo partnership

The companies are currently testing a new automated delivery service in the Phoenix area. The test is limited to one city, according to the release, but the companies plan to roll it out more broadly later this year, though it’s unclear which cities will take advantage of the distribution feature next.

DoorDash customers in eligible areas who want to try Waymo service can do so using the app’s “Autonomous Delivery Platform.” Customers are then matched with Waymo to use the platform to receive deliveries from participating merchants.

The companies say the system will help coordinate different types of delivery methods at scale, including Waymo, drones, robots and Dashers, which DoorDash calls couriers.

As testing continues, Waymo service will begin with deliveries from DashMart, DoorDash stores that sell groceries and other goods, and will expand over time.

Nicole Gavel, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Waymo, said: “Through our partnership with DoorDash, we’re leveraging our proven delivery experience to offer our customers a seamless, contactless way to get the items they need, whether it’s groceries or snacks.”

DashPass offers exclusive deals, member-only perks, $0 shipping fees, and reduced service fees, the release continued.

Google, which owns Waymo, was down 0.18% Thursday afternoon. DoorDash traded 2.70% lower.
