As far as lottery games are concerned, striking while the iron is hot can result in a big win or two.
Just ask Sherry Suttles of Bridgeport, Connecticut. He won a $100,000 prize in the daily Cash 5 Lotto over the summer and took home a $1 million jackpot.
Suttles won the $1 million prize when he stopped by the Grand Package Store to pick up a few things, including Ultimate 7 scratch-off game tickets, the Connecticut Lottery announced on Tuesday, September 30. The store will also receive a $10,000 bonus for selling winning tickets.
“I almost fainted. I scratched the box and saw $1 million,” Suttles told the CT Lottery. “I had never seen a million dollars on a ticket before. When I picked up the phone and told my sister, she started screaming. She couldn’t believe it either.”
“I still can’t believe it.”
When state lottery officials caught up with Suttles, a regular CT Lotto player, he still couldn’t believe he’d won.
“I still can’t believe it,” Suttles told the camera, clutching the check. “I can’t believe that happened. But it did.”
Suttles plans to use the winnings to pay bills and donate to local churches. According to CT Lottory, the “overall odds” of winning Ultimate 7s are 1 in 3.47 and 1 in 72.1 for Cash5, or 1 in 12.1 for Cash5 with a kicker.
After Suttles won $1 million in the last “top prize”, the Ultimate Sevens, state lottery officials called off the competition. Winning tickets, including other major prizes in this game, must be verified by March 29, 2026.
