President Donald Trump welcomed the US Navy during an event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Navy held at Norfolk Navy Station in Virginia on October 5th, promising members of the military to raise wages, saying that American enemies would “tremble at the sight of a naval ship.”

Celebrating “Marketing 250 Years of Maritime Domination in the United States”! As Trump explained it in the Truth Social Post, it happened amid government shutdowns as servicemen worked unpaid and thousands of federal employees were full.

At the event, Trump blamed the Democrats for the closure and promised service members a “full” salary.

“Despite the current Democrat shutdown, we’ll get a service member for the last penny,” he said. “Don’t worry about that. It’s all coming. It’s coming. And what’s more, I’m also supporting the full salaries of all the sailors and service members of the US military.”

A few days before the event, Trump called out Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House Democrat leader Hicombe Jeffries by name as people who place dampers on impasses and celebrations.

“Chuck Schumer, Hakem Jeffries and other radical left Democrats of minority have tried their best to destroy this incredible celebration of the US Navy’s birthday and stop celebrating US Navy history through the outrageous government shutdown.

Wearing a red “American” hat and a red tie, Trump began addressing USS Harry S. Truman with a “Bravo Zul” chant. The president was joined by first lady Melania Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses at the event.

“Every tyrant and enemy on Earth knows their choice,” he said. “It’s very simple. It’s about keeping America in peace or being blown away by fire and rage that you’ve never seen before.”

Trump has also reiterated his pledge to commit $1 trillion in military spending.

UFC Events at the White House

Trump also revealed the date of the White House UFC event in 2026, honoring America’s 250th birthday, which was announced in July. Date: June 14th, matches Trump’s birthday.

“And we’re going to have a big UFC fight at the White House on June 14th next year,” Trump said. “It’s on the White House grounds and on the White House grounds.”

His eldest son, Ivanka Trump, is expected to be involved in planning a historic UFC battle. The White House had previously announced the date for July 4th, 2026.

Trump attended a military parade in Washington, DC on June 14th, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the US military. The event, which coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday and flag day, included thousands of soldiers in uniforms of the past and present, military vehicles, musical performances and fireworks.
