“Saturday Night Live” is back and will be turning off Season 51 on October 4th with Bad Bunny as a host.

“It’s good to be back. This is my second host and my fourth time here,” Bud Bunny said in his opening monologue. “I think Marcello (Hernandez) is nervous that Lorne (Michaels) has a new favorite Latino.”

The Reggaeton star first performed his duties in 2023, achieved viral success (remember Pedro Pascal Skit?), and most recently appeared on the show as a musical guest for the season 50 finale in May. Bad Bunny’s second stint on “SNL” comes just a week after he announced that he would win the 2026 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, the biggest stage of music.

“You may not know this, but I’m doing a Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy,” he said. “I think everyone is happy about it, even Fox News.”

Bad Bunny makes a statement against Super Bowl rebound, ice threat

The NFL criticism of choosing Bad Bunny to perform at next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show was quick, following the September 28 surprise announcement. For some, USA Today opinion writer Sara Pequeño wrote, “a move that goes against American values (ironically considering Puerto Rico is part of the United States).

“Does this guy really scream American football at anyone?” Robbie Starbuck, a conservative influencer, was posted on X. “This is not about music, it’s about putting people on the stage who hate Trump and Maga.”

Earlier this week, an advisor to President Donald Trump said immigrants and customs enforcement could be in the Super Bowl over Bad Bunny’s performance. Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former 2016 campaign manager, has spoken out about YouTuber Benny Johnson’s podcast.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed that the administration would send immigrant staff to Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara, California, calling the NFL “very weak” because of performer choices. “It’s your responsibility to make sure everyone who goes to the Super Bowl has a chance to enjoy it and leave safely. That’s what America is about,” Noem said. “We’re all over the place.”

After dealing with the backlash, Bad Bunny intentionally continued his monologue in Spanish, thanking Latin fans for their support. “If you don’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn,” he said.

John Ham makes a surprising cameo with a Bad Bunny monologue

“This time I’m just hosting because I need a rest,” Bud Bunny noted how he’s taken double duty as a host and music guest in the past. “I’ve just finished my 31 shows residency in Puerto Rico. The show is three hours long and I’m a bit tired because there are so many complicated choreography like this…”

Rapper Bad Bunny left the stage during a Puerto Rican residency after appearing to have hurt himself.

After cutting footage of a bad bunny midway through the show during the knee-heavy dance movements, the singer continued, “Bayle is unacceptable,” saying, “My residence was beautiful, everyone loved it.”

“Some celebrities came to my show, some of them were on drugs,” he joked. “I don’t want to say who, but this was John Ham,” “snl” was cut into footage of the “Mad Men” actor dancing his heart on the show.

Actor John Ham shared his love for Bad Bunny, was seen in Puerto Rican residency and was given the loving nickname “John Jamon.”

“In fact, it wasn’t John Ham, it was Juan Jamon,” Bud Bunny said as the camera panned out to the actors in the audience.

“I think he’s a bit obsessed with me.”

Who else appeared in the “SNL” premiere?

“SNL” may have returned, but some of the stars are not after the reforms that took place in the summer. It has been revealed that Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Emil Wakim, Devon Walker and Michael Longfellow left “SNL” in August and September.

“SNL” brings fresh blood to the new season, adding Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Calhane, Ben Marshall, Cam Patterson and Veronica Slow Kouzka to the cast.

Despite speculation that Colin Jost or Michael Che might be saying goodbye to “SNL” after season 50, both were back at the back of the “Weekend Update” desk for the Season 51 premiere.

Who is hosting “SNL” next?

“SNL” will return on October 11th, hosted by former cast member Amy Poehler, and host role models as musical guest.

The following week, Sabrina Carpenter will make her “SNL” host debut on October 18th. She also performs as a musical guest for the episode.

Meanwhile, the bad bunny doesn’t slow down anytime soon. Just a few weeks after closing out his 31-night sold-out residency in Coriseo de Puerto Rico, the “Tití Me Preguntó” artist, announcing the Super Bowl and SNL hosting mission, will begin his 24-day Debí Tirar Más Fotos world tour on November 21st in Santo Domingo, Dominican Lepolique.
