If you think most Americans have graduated from college, think again.

Going to university is an American rite of passage. However, not everyone goes to university and not many students graduate. According to the Education Data Initiative, only 38% of Americans over the age of 25 are university graduates.

A report published by Resume Creation Service Resume in May identifies 13 careers that offer good wages and long-term stability and do not require a university degree. Better yet, none of the jobs could be replaced by AI.

The analysis “focused on three or four fears people have now,” said Keith Spencer, a career expert in resumes. Americans are worried about signs of a softening job market. They are worried about the cost of the university and whether the degree is still worth it. And employees in many fields fear that AI or robots, or other non-human hands, could be wiped out to replace them.

Their fear is unfounded. Recent research shows that some service companies in the New Jersey area of upstate New York have expanded their employment or plans over the next six months for AI.

Despite the slow creep of automation, many fields still require human touch. To create this list, Resume has now found a career that only requires a high school diploma and pays at least $50,000 a year. This report uses data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“They all have some similarities in terms of the need for important human interactions,” Spencer said. “Maybe in an unpredictable environment, manual dexterity or a high level of creativity is required.”

This list has two parts: jobs with relatively low AI risk and positions with “moderate” AI risk based on human decision-making needs, physical labor, personal interactions and other factors.

Some of the jobs listed below require a “level of related experience” Resume reports. But apparently, nothing requires a university degree.

Here’s the list. This includes job descriptions for less familiar positions and medians for all payrolls.
