Violet Affleck, the eldest daughter of A-listers Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, are warning about the prolonged effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a speech before UN members gathering in New York City this week, the 19-year-old leader accused him of “ignoring, disrespect and concealment,” the medical term for long-term coronavirus infections.
“We are fully told by our leaders that we are the future,” said Affleck, a Yale freshman. “But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present moment is being stolen right in front of us.”
“In adults, the relentless beat of returning to normalcy – ignored, disregarded and hidden both the prevalence of airborne transmission and the threat of long covids – manifested in a set of options,” she continued, “Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call Call in Comming” on September 23rd.
“Youth were lacking in both the real choices on this issue and information about what was chosen for us,” she added.

This is not the first time Affleck has spoken about the issue.
In a Yale Global Health Review essay published in May, she documented the aftermath of the Los Angeles fire.
“Our embarrassing response to a crisis like La Fires says we may be used to dealing with a climate crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic, as a question of how quickly we can go back to pretend the problem is gone,” writes Affleck.
She went on to argue that it is likely that our society will only respond after the effects of either crisis have a meaningful effect on our work ability.
“Long covids aren’t the problem until you can’t find any other explanations about why millions of people can’t work. School performance, a decline in children’s health, doesn’t remember feeling like they’re always sick,” she wrote. “The climate crisis does not require changes to consumption patterns until our major cities burn. At this point, the solution is to consume more. A retrospective response to these interlocking crises is more resource intensive and less effective than the Pace approach.”
