In most of America, workers fear that remote work options are slipping.
The news cycle is solved with headlines about companies reminiscing workers in their offices, from Amazon to Starbucks. President Donald Trump ordered federal employees to return to their offices earlier this year.
But remote work is alive and well, at least for now. Five years after the pandemic workplace revolution, federal government data shows that in August, about 38% of full-time American workers were partially or completely distant, from 44% two years ago.
As expected, perhaps, missions from the office appear to be more popular with employers than employees. Research shows that many workers are quietly rebelling against the order. Some people can see new double standards, with ranks and filers being limited to the office while their boss works where they want.
Against this backdrop, many job seekers are looking for companies working on a home-based philosophy.
A September 19 report lists 20 companies at remote work site FlexJobs, which have made flexible work a permanent model. All 20 have a remote work policy, usually guaranteeing a hybrid and a perfect remote location combination.

positive. Financial services companies have achieved a position as a “remote-first” company, with remote work being built “in the DNA of our way of business.” But if your office is yours, declare them in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Warsaw, Madrid, and London.
All-state. “Good work can happen everywhere,” the insurance giant says on its website. In a 2020 survey, 95% of Allstate workers said they liked the flexibility of remote work. The company says it has earned twice the application in positions with flexwork options.
amgen. The biotech company says it offers a “flexible workplace approach based on the lessons learned during the pandemic and employee feedback.” Many employees “can choose to work completely remotely from any of their existing assigned countries with their manager’s approval.”
amplification. The curriculum and evaluation company offers this CREDO on its career page. “Remote First. Based in Brooklyn.
Atlassian. Early in the pandemic, the software company told employees it could work permanently from home. The company says its approach will “ensure Atlassians can choose where, when and how to deliver the best job.”
Berei. This company offers remote staff services. Naturally, Belay itself has accepted remote work and has been around for a while. “Since 2010,” the website states:
Cloud strike. CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity technology company, offers a remote first work model and pledge to cultivate a “culture connected to every employee, wherever you are in the world.”
Dropbox. The global file sharing and collaboration platform adopted a “virtual first” model early in the pandemic, pledging that remote work will be “a major experience for all employees and a daily default for individual jobs.”
hubspot. During the pandemic era, this sales and marketing platform has shifted from “remote-friendly” to “remote-first.” The company currently offers a variety of work options, from primarily offices to mostly home.
Humana. Health insurance providers employ a variety of home and office-based working models. The website promises, “No matter where the employees work, they will feel welcome here from home, from the field, from our office, or somewhere in between.”
Kraken. This global cryptocurrency platform offers a “remote-first and working from anywhere” model, offering “competitive salaries, no matter where you work.”
Pearson. Pearson, an educational publishing company, follows the philosophy of remote awards. The website states, “We value people’s well-being, so in most roles we provide flexibility in the way and where we work, during our home, in our office or non-traditional time.”
Pinterest. Websites and social media platforms offer a flexible working model called PinFlex. “For roles that can be performed anywhere, we encourage employees to work in a place of choice in a country or region, such as at home, on Pinterest, or another virtual location.”
reddit. In 2020, aggregation and social media platforms adopted a flexible working model. “Move forward,” the company said, “teams and team members will have the flexibility to explore where they work, whether it’s an office, remote or a combination of the two.”
rider. During the pandemic era, the transportation and logistics company moved to remote and hybrid jobs.
Spotify. Swedish streaming services employ a “Work from Anywhere” programme, “We accept and support the choice of working primarily at home or at the office, knowing that each brings a different experience.”
Stacadapt. StackAdapt, a marketing and advertising platform, offers a “work and wandering” policy “adopting flexible work arrangements around the world.”
Stride, Inc. The education management company says 90% of its workforce is remote. “We give you the time and flexibility you need, professionally and personally.”
Twillio. Twilio, a cloud communications company, is remote-first. A company survey found that 88% of “Twilions” felt productive work remotely, while 99% didn’t want to go back to the office full-time.
Vista. This design and marketing company is remote first. The website states, “Whether you are able to welcome your kids from school or not, or whether you believe sweatpants are the best trousers, our remote-first environment offers more freedom and flexibility than ever.”
