Trump has jabed in Russia as a “paper tiger” and said Ukraine is “in a position to fight and win everything in Ukraine in its original form.”
Trump: If NATO enters airspace, NATO must fire down Russian jets
President Donald Trump said that if NATO countries enter airspace, Russian aircraft should be fired down.
UN – President Donald Trump said he believes that after meeting with Voldymi Zelensky at the UN, he optimistically assessed Ukraine’s outlook and argued that territorial concessions were necessary, the country believes it can reclaim all its territory from Russia.
Trump argued that Ukraine is “in a position to fight and win everything in Ukraine in its original form.”
“The original border where this war began is a very option, thanks to Europe, especially the time, patience and financial support of NATO. Why?” Trump added on social media that Russia has weakened after “fighting prominently for three and a half years.”
Trump said NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft that violate airspace, but said their involvement in the potential conflict depends on the circumstances.
The president’s face of his ability to win wars and support NATO countries such as Poland, where airspace has been destroyed, came a day after meeting with allies at the UN General Assembly on September 23.
Zelenskyy told Trump that there was “good news” on the battlefield and thanked him for selling NATO weapons that had been moved to Ukraine.
On social media, Trump, who once played Zelensky in an oval office, praised him as “a great man” who “sets one hell of battle.” After the meeting, Trump jabed as a “paper tiger” in Russia, saying on social media that the US will continue to pour weapons into Ukraine through NATO.
Trump’s comments that Ukraine has regained its territory are shifting from what he said last month at a meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump rolled out the red carpet for Russian leaders in hopes that in-person meetings would create a breakthrough at the peace conference.
Putin is seeking full authority in four Ukrainian regions: Luhansk, Donetsk, Zapolizia and Herson, as well as four Ukrainian regions in Crimea’s Black Sea Peninsula, which annexed in 2014. His army currently does not control all the territory of the region.
After meeting with Putin last month, Trump said Ukraine must engage in “territorial exchanges.” Zelenskyy refused to make territorial concessions.
The Alaska Summit ended without any transactions. And since then, Putin has been bashing Ukraine for Trump’s frustration.
Before meeting Zelensky, Trump gave a speech to the General Assembly, where he threatened Russia with tariffs and urged European countries to adopt harsh economic measures and force war.
“If Russia is not ready to enter into a contract to end the war, the US is fully prepared to impose a very strong, powerful tariff. “However, for these tariffs to be effective, European countries must join us in adopting the exact same measures.”
Trump said he would impose tariffs on countries buying Russian oil and gas as soon as the European Union and NATO allies completely shut down Moscow. These efforts have been hampered by Slovakia, Hungary and Türkiye, but they still rely heavily on Russian oil.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen later told reporters in a meeting with Trump that the Bullock would sanction ports where fossil fuels come from Russia. “We want to put tariffs on oil supplies that are still coming to the European Union,” she said. “We want to get rid of it.”
She said the EU will be “faster” than the deadline set in 2027.
Trump supports NATO countries shooting down Russian aircraft
Trump also said in a meeting with Zelensky that NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft violating their airspace.
In response to the question, he said, “Yes, that’s right.” However, when asked whether the country would help the country if the US were to work on Russian aircraft, Trump said it would be “situated.”
His comments came after Poland, Romania and Estonia recently reported invasions through territory by Russian aircraft.
Poland reported that it had fired multiple drones, and NATO Italian fighters escorted Russian MIG-31 fighters with three Russian MIG-31 fighters apart from Estonian territory, as well as fighter jets that scrambled to intercept drones that eventually left the country’s airspace.
The intrusion is wary of European officials who have issued harsh warnings to Russia about further violations. The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on September 22 at Estonia’s request, where authorities warned Russia was putting conflict with NATO at risk.
“Our alliance is defensive, but not under illusions… If we need to stand up to planes operating in NATO airspace without permission, we will,” British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said at the meeting.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tass said on September 22 that his country would shoot down the aircraft when there is a clear invasion of the country’s territory.
After Trump agreed that NATO countries must shoot down aircraft, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said “Roger” in a post on X.
Sikorsky told USA Today in an interview with the United Nations before Trump’s comments that Poland supported Trump’s attempts to declare Putin to end the three-year-old war. But this approach isn’t working, he said.
“I hope President Trump will draw the conclusion that unfortunately personal diplomacy is not working. He means that he needs to change Putin’s calculus by putting pressure on Russia and helping Ukraine,” Sikorski said.
Poland is the Ukrainian border, which was invaded by Russia in 2022.
The conflict over the invasion of NATO countries and Russian aircraft can escalate and may be portrayed in the US.
Article 5 of the NATO Convention states that attacks on one member state “is considered an attack on all of them.”
