You need to know about the assassination attempt by Ryan Rous
Ryan Rouse, the man accused of trying to assassinate President Donald Trump, will represent himself in the trial.
FORT PIERCE, Fla. — On Tuesday, September 23rd, ju umpire discovered that Ryan Rouse had committed a crime for trying to kill Donald Trump on one of the Florida golf courses last year.
Routh, 59, was found guilty in federal court for attempting to assassinate a presidential candidate. Twelve ju judges found him guilty of assaulting federal officials and several weapons violations.
After the verdict was read, it appeared that Routh tried to stab the neck with a pen. Multiple US exs tackled him and dragged him out of court. Like them, Sarah, the daughter of Rous, cried out: “Dad, don’t hurt yourself!”
Routh was tied up and returned to court to complete the proceedings. He didn’t look like he was injured.
The trial ended more than a year after authorities sat outside the fence of Trump International Golf Club with a rifle on September 15, 2024, and waited more than 11 hours for Trump to enter his sights. Prosecutors say the plot was thwarted by a US Secret Service agent who found Rous and fired fire, leading him to drop his rifle and escape. Rous was arrested less than an hour later.
The capture of Routh made international headlines and came just two months after Trump was injured in his life’s attempts at a Pennsylvania rally. The trial of Routh has arrived in the shadow of more political violence. Earlier this month, conservative activist and Trump ally Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.
After the Routh ruling was announced, Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement from X that the results “indicator of Justice’s commitment to punishing people who engage in political violence.”
“This assassination attempt was not only an attack on our president, but a humiliation to our nation itself,” Bondy added.
A former roofer and Trump supporter, Rous represented himself in an extraordinary trial, marked by an explosion and controversial exchange between him and Trump’s appointee, Judge Irene Cannon. Even before the trial began, Rous challenged Trump to a “beatdown session” or a round of golf, writing in a public court filing, “If (Trump) can execute me, I can get his job.”
During the course of a speedy 12-day trial, Routh tried to convince the ju judge that he had a “non-violent” nature and that he had no intention of killing Trump. Prosecutors presented a lot of physical evidence, cell phone data and the text they alleged, claiming that they had planned the attack in an orderly manner for months, showing that it was consumed with Trump’s hatred.
After the ju judges handed it out, Trump took him to his social media platform to thank the federal, state and local government cases.
“This is an evil person with evil intentions, and they caught him,” Trump writes in the True Society, calling the verdict “a very big moment for American justice!” ”
Prosecutors relied on physical evidence, data trails and writings.
The doctor psychologically evaluated Routh and determined he was capable of withstanding the trial. Cannon ordered the lawyers to which Rous was appointed, to “standby,” but to “standby” in case Rous needed assistance.
During the trial, the ju judge heard from various law enforcement officers, forensic experts, and acquaintances of Rous. Prosecutors said they have meticulously planned to track down the movements of Republican presidential candidates and claim that Rouse has visited Trump’s golf course more than dozens of times he was found on September 15, 2024.
After his arrest, a pack of evidence that linked Rous to the attack, including cell phone data, DNA on the rifle, and other items recovered after an attempted assassination, said. Prosecutors allegedly claimed that the text, writings and physical notes written by Rous had allegedly allegedly hinted at his desire to kill Trump.
Among his works was a letter to an acquaintance who was allegedly leaving a letter about an attempted assassination that Rous allegedly left. The letter was addressed to the “Dear World” and, among other things, stated, “This was an attempt to assassinate Donald Trump, and I am very sorry that I failed to you.”
The self-titled book written by Routh was called a reader and partially “assassinated Trump” because of his foreign policy position against Iran to “assassinate Trump.” In the book, Routh wrote that he voted for Trump in 2016, but regretted the decision on January 6, 2021 after the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Rous claimed he was “non-violent” and yelled about Ukraine, Putin
At the time, he was appointed as a suspect in Trump’s second attempted assassination, so Rous had a struggling roof business and a long criminal history. Rouse, a native of North Carolina who later moved to Hawaii, pleaded guilty to multiple felonies in the 2000s.
Routh defended Taiwan’s democracy, suggesting in a series of X posts he traveled to Ukraine and fought on behalf of the haunted country.
During the trial, Routh bases his defenses on evidence of character and attempts to portray himself as a harmless, peaceful man who could not overcome the assassination. While examining Cross on a man who previously worked at a North Carolina roofing company, Routh asked if he was angry or if he had been “angry” up until now.
“I’m not with me,” replied Samuel Plata.
Rous also used his time in front of the court to condemn violence abroad, talking about Russian President Vladimir Putin, the war in Ukraine, and even Adolf Hitler. Routh’s opening statement quickly turned to a topic the judge deemed “out of scope,” leading Cannon to shorten him and warn him of his actions as a “clear violation of the court’s order.”
During his final argument, Rous urges the ju judges to find out he has not committed all the charges, telling them that he could not pull the trigger and therefore never intended to kill Trump.
“Individuals couldn’t pull the trigger,” Rous said. “That’s the whole thing.”
The Routh Trial comes into a streak of political violence
Routh’s belief comes when the state tackles like political violence that has promoted fear of attacks on public figures.
A gunman fired a shot with a Trump while talking at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, weeks before Rous was arrested in Florida. The bullet killed Trump’s ears and the audience, Corey Comperatore. Law enforcement on the scene fatally shot suspect Thomas Matthew Crooks.
The man was charged with attempted murder in April after police said he set fire to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s home. In Minnesota, gunmen killed Democrat Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. Democrat Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were also injured in the attack.
On September 10, Kirk, co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking in front of a crowd in Orem, Utah. The suspect gunman Tyler Robinson has been charged with murder in connection with the assassination.
