Authorities are looking for passengers on the Carnival Cruise Line who have gone missing in Bonaire.
According to a government news release, Jessica Collins, a 47-year-old American guest sailor at Carnival Horizon, did not return to the ship following the September 17 stop on the Caribbean island.
“Local governments work with public bodies of Bonaire, Port Authority, Tourism Bureau Bonaire, Carnival Cruise Line Security, Ship Security Chiefs and other partners,” the release translated from the Netherlands said. “They are also in direct contact with Carnival Corporation and US authorities.”
Carnival told USA Today that the passenger “hidden all her belongings in her backpack and left a thank-you note to the Stateroom Attendant.”
“The guest then texted members of our care team who were trying to reach her saying she was safe or that she didn’t want to contact her again,” Cruise Line issued an email statement on September 22nd.
Bonaire previously said in a September 20 statement that Collins had identified with her but left luggage and personal items on the ship.
According to Cruisemapper, the eight-day Caribbean cruise departed from Miami on September 13th. A Bonaire news release urged anyone with information to report via an anonymous tip line at 9310 or by calling local number 715 8000.
