President Donald Trump is scheduled to present his autism research at 4pm on Monday, September 22nd, accompanied by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., director of the Department of Health and Human Services, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
“I think we’ve found the answer to autism,” Trump said on September 21 at the Charlie Kirk memorial rally in Glendale, Arizona.
According to Politico and Washington Post, which cited anonymous sources, authorities are expected to argue that using Tylenol during pregnancy can contribute to the development of autism in children. Medical guidelines state that acetaminophen, a common form of Tylenol, is safe to use. Acetaminophen is commonly used by pregnant women, and pregnant women are already advised not to use ibuprofen after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
However, the Trump administration has repeatedly argued about plans to find the “cause” of autism, indicating that despite decades of medical and scientific consensus, idiosyncratic sources, including drugs, can be attributed to conditions, and is likely the result of multiple contributing factors, including genetics. Without evidence, Kennedy argues that the country has an “autism epidemic” fueled by “environmental toxins.”
Trump and his advisors are expected to also discuss potential treatments for autism, the news organization reported.
