According to a recent referendum, the majority of Americans have disapproved of President Donald Trump’s job performance and have been unfavourable about some of his signature policies.

A four-day Washington Post IPSOS poll released on September 18th revealed that the president’s approval rating was 43%, with 56% disapproving. This figure is a slight increase in his overall rating compared to the voter’s final poll in April, with a near-historical low approval of 39% and similar disapprovals of 55%.

The results are closer to the New York Times’ latest poll average. This led to Trump being approved by 43% and 54% as of September 21. Actual polling averages for Correapolitix were 46% and 52% disapproval as of September 21, with an average of 46% and 52% disapproval.

Post’s poll also found that many Americans are unhappy with the president’s handling of some of the biggest issues facing the country, including the economy, immigration, tariffs, crime, the Russian-Ukraine and the Israeli-Hamas war.

The survey was conducted between 2,513 US adults with a margin of ±2 percentage points of error between September 11 and 15.

Trump’s immigration, tariffs and foreign wars are unpopular

Crime was ranked as Trump’s best issue in the poll. Still, 54% of Americans approved the handling of crime in his country, and 44% approved it.

As with the past few months of problem-specific investigations, tariffs and economy won Trump and his lowest number of confirmed approvals. Regarding government tariffs on imported goods, 34% have approved the measure, while 64% have said they have disapproved. In the economy, the survey found 40% of the president’s overall approval of actions, while 59% disapproved.

This is trembling with the disapproval of a majority of 55% compared to the 44% approval rate for his immigration policy.

The Russian Ukraine and Israeli Hamas wars – opinions on handling two of the most important foreign policy crises – hit a low benchmark as well as the majority’s disapproval. Regarding Israel and Hamas, polls found 39% approval and 58% disapproval. 38% of the president’s job on the Russian-Ukraine war were approved, while 60% were disapproved.

Beyond certain actions, polls show that 62% of Americans believe Trump is beyond his authority as president, while 36% believe he acted properly. In April, that same question won a slightly positive split, with 60% saying he had stepped over his authority, and 30% saying he didn’t.

Trump’s National Guard use remains unpopular

A post-IPSOS poll in Washington said 37% approved Trump’s August deployment of National Guard troops to Washington and a temporary acquisition of the city’s police department. The move that Trump claimed was in response to crime rates received a 47% disapproval rate.

On September 15, the president announced that he was deploying National Guard in Memphis, Tennessee, and discussed the deployment of troops to other cities, including Chicago and New Orleans. The polls found opinions on the expansion of the administration’s military deployment to combat crime. 42% supported the idea, and 46% opposed it.

But Americans say they trust Republicans more than Democrats for crime by a 2-1 margin, according to a survey that leads 44% against 22% of Democrats. Another 33% said that neither party believed the issue.
