Things you need to know before buying a new car
Make sure to do your homework before purchasing a new car. There are five things to keep in mind before you shop.
- Grayscale colors represent an increase in the market share of the car colour market.
- The colours of other cars will retain their value better.
Karl Brower says he likes to play games when others are in the car with him.
He asks them to point out cars on the streets that are not black, white, silver or gray.
It usually requires a bit of a scan before they find anything else.
For Brauer, executive analyst at ISEeCars.com, the exercise shows that grayscale colors have come to dominate the vehicle fleet. It also helps explain why so-called safe colors aren’t necessarily the best choice when it comes to selling your old rides, despite what many might assume.
In fact, a recent survey on ISEeCars.com shows that the color of the car that holds its value is yellow. Gold is the worst, but the next two colors just above the survey list are white and black, respectively.
Generally, it is a reflection of supply and demand and is an important determinant of vehicle prices.
“How many people want yellow cars? Not many. How many yellow cars are produced? Less than people who want them,” Brower said.
This is a complete list of colors and a complete list of 3 years of depreciation.
- Yellow, 24%
- Orange, 24.4%
- Green, 26.3%
- Beige, 29.5%
- Red, 29.8%
- Silver, 29.8%
- Brown 30.4%
- Gray, 30.5%
- Blue, 30.9%
- Black, 31.9%
- White, 32.1%
- Gold, 34.4%
However, this study does not reflect the most popular colours on the road.
According to 2023 data from ISEeCars.com, white, black, gray and silver respectively represent top cars with color market share.
Brower said he suspected people were trying to play safely at resale value while selecting a vehicle.
“I think there’s a lot of this propagation of these grayscale colors because everyone thinks everyone else wants them,” Brower said.
What is Brauer’s advice for new car buyers?
Try ordering what you want.
“There are people who want yellow, orange and green. If you have it, what time is it to sell?
