The decision to suddenly drop Stellantis Management’s beloved V8 from the bestselling pickup was a mistake regarding the size of another French CEO, Napoleon. They made a film about him – invading Russia as winter approached.

And it was as good as the fans wanted, once expensive and had everything in fuel tanks for early buyers.
It also features a ram head V8 engine that is destined to become a favorite of fenders, t-shirts and coffee mugs. Lam calls it “a symbol of protest.” It may be a little above, but a complete mark to acknowledge your mistakes and quickly correct them.

How powerful is it?
The 5.7L HEMI generates 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque on the 2026 RAM 1500. The Etorque Mild Hybrid System is standard. The pickup can tow up to 11,320 pounds and 1,650 pounds in taxis and beds.
Incidentally, Ram never stopped Hemis completely. We continued to offer them with bigger sturdy pickups of 2500/3500. Still, re-establishing the updated 1500 in a few months was a challenge for Titanic. Of course, it goes without saying that suppliers will convince them to resume production of parts they stopped making more than a year ago.
5.7L HEMI is available at almost any trim level on the 2026 RAM 1500. It will be added to the Rebellion model later in the model year. Although Ram hasn’t officially confirmed it about two top trims (which he says is coming) from sources close to the program (Rho and Tungsten).

How much is Hemi?
The HEMI is a $1,200 option that surpasses a 3.0L SO (standard output) six-cylinder engine. This is more powerful than HEMI, but that’s a different story. The So Straight-Six itself is a $1,695 option from the base 3.6L V6, the base engine of the RAM 1500.
The Hemi comes with a sports exhaust system that was once an option of $1,700. The 33-gallon gas tank, which adds $495, will become standard on an undecided number of early production trucks.
The dealer is taking orders now.
Drive impressions
I drove a well-equipped Laramie Crew cab in the afternoon around a gentle country just west of Detroit.
It’s an example. Not just the engine, but the whole truck.
The exterior is thick and can be recognized at 100 yards. The interior trims range from basic to luxurious, but everything features easy-to-use controls, physical switches, key features with dials, and one of the best touchscreens and infotainment systems in the automotive industry.
Hemi leaves everything that made it a favorite: the throttle response is immediate. The upgraded exhaust system is a joy, burns happily in idle state, accelerates with a happy nose.
I rolled the windows to taste all the decibels and rolled through the countryside on a perfect summer day.
Powerful hurricane engines are also available
The RAM 1500 has been a great pick up for years.
The lack of hemi did not change that – the 3.0L hurricane engine that temporarily replaced it is unsolved and produces more power than the 5.7L hemi – but the fastest way to alienate people is to remove the favourites before proving the alternative. RAM acknowledges that customers are adults who can make wise decisions. Hurricane Engine builds its own fanbase now that people know They have an a choice. In the meantime, RAM will be willing to supply cash for every $1,200 check.
Why buy 2026 RAM 1500 HEMI?
It’s not that complicated. Give people what they want. Provide them with options. Lamb had temporarily forgotten that, but now keeping it against the brand is like olding the puppy because of the mess he made yesterday.
