The popular Target Car Seat Trade-In event is returning this year, offering discounts on future car seat and baby gear purchases for customers trading on older car seats and bases.

The program will return on September 21st and will run until October 4th, according to the Minnesota-based retailer.

Since launching the program in 2016, Target has reportedly recycled more than 3.5 million car seats and decoupled more than 53 million pounds of waste from landfills.

Here’s what you need to know as this year’s Car Seat Trade-In event is round the corner.

How do I qualify for a targeted car seat trade-in event?

According to Target, customers must drop off their old car seat in a designated box near guest services in the store and scan the QR code near the drop-off box to receive a discount in order to qualify for a transaction.

Discounts are offered in the form of a 20% off target circle bonus for new car seats, strollers, or selected baby gear.

According to Target, the discount will be available between September 21st and October 18th.

What types of car seats are applied to trade-in for target car seats?

According to the store, Target accepts and recycles all types of seats, including toddler car seats, convertible car seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats. Additionally, they accept expired or damaged car seats.
