Ferrari Race.mi completed a hybrid range update on Tuesday with the new 849 Testarossa sports car, a homage to the famous original 1980s Testarossa model.
Ferrari has announced a new plug-in hybrid, four-wheel drive, in Milan. This is the car that replaces the 2019 SF90 Stradale with the top of its range. The newer vehicles are also available in the “spider” version with a retractable top.
The 4-liter 8-cylinder turbo engine, which is 830 horsepower, is combined with three electric motors, totaling 1,050 hp, 50 more than the SF90 Stradale. The company said it could have a top speed (205 miles) that exceeds 330 km/h (205 miles) per hour.
The starting price is set at 460,000 euros ($540,000) for the coupe and 500,000 euros for the Spider version, with first delivery scheduled for clients in the second and third quarters of next year, starting in Europe.
Deliveries to US clients are expected to begin at higher prices in about three months due to import duties.
Leading by CEO Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari is rolling out new models while preparing to launch next month to showcase its first electric vehicle.
Vigna has reaffirmed that it will continue to manufacture gasoline and hybrid cars along with the EV, but breaks Ferrari’s tradition of turning petrol engines.
In April, Ferrari launched a new hybrid special and its convertible version, approaching the end of its lifecycle, based on the new Hybrid 296 special and the other hybrid model of the home, the 2021 Ferrari 296.
As part of the usual aggressive path to new model releases, Ferrari unveiled the purely petrol-powered Amalfi Coupe in July, replacing the successful 2019 Rome with an entry segment in its range.
